I had finally been able to accomplish one of my goals in my outreach plan to help children in Uganda back in August of 2013. As I had mentioned in the past, I wanted to visit the Village of Kitafaali in the Masaka District of Uganda to personally assess what would be needed for their orphanage’s schools and village. I was able to visit and donated a few items on my trip.
We wish to build awareness of and advocacy for the many young children and their families who suffer crises. We will reach into the community to create partnerships through which individuals and groups can tangibly impact the children and families through their service and/or resources. Through the partnerships of many, we aim to sustain and expand our resources so we will be able to reach out to the numerous children and families who could benefit from our specialized program.
The sole aim of Monday Night Mission is to feed the less fortunate of Skid Row who are unable to find housing or are turned away from shelters. We meet every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night to feed our homeless brothers and sisters on Skid Row.
Love in the Mirror began with the love of Jonas, a 6 year old boy who wanted to help kids that were less fortunate than him by giving them things he felt no child should live without. The idea grew into a non-profit organization that strives to meet the needs of disadvantaged youth, while at the same time, kids like Jonas can gain the ability to develop self-esteem and learn great leadership skills.
The concept for Kids 4 Kids RUN/WALK evolved from important changes Matti has seen over the years in children’s awareness of cancer and the incredible generosity from kids of all ages wanting to help kids with cancer. “Countless times we’ve experienced amazing examples of hope and determination in children whether they were patients battling cancer or determined children who emptied their own piggybanks to make a donation to our organization,” said Matti.
