Hope So Bright’s 5K ADHD HERO RUN/WALKS 2016-17:
Community-Based Fundraising Events & Educational Outreach
Hope So Bright’s 5K ADHD HERO RUN/WALKS are community fundraisers and educational outreach programs that raise awareness about ADHD with special consideration given to the underserved: those representing different cultures, religious beliefs, languages with a variety of dialects, socioeconomic classes of varying levels of education, and children living in rural, isolated geographic areas.
Today, it is estimated that only one out of two children diagnosed with ADHD receive psychological services which may include behavioral intervention. ADHD receives less than five percent of funding to cover any behavior intervention for those exhibiting symptoms. Often children diagnosed with ADHD struggle in school and in their relationships with others while also experiencing low self-esteem.
Participating in this inspiring event will empower others to make a difference in their communities and provide an opportunity to honor someone with ADHD as everyone is touched by this learning challenge in some way. Linda Sanders believes that no matter where children come from, they need advocates, support, and, most of all, hope.
Hope So Bright’s 1st Annual ADHD 5K HERO RUN/WALK, San Diego is scheduled for October 30, 2016. Open to the public, this event is being held at NTC Park/Liberty Station, 2455 Cushing Road, San Diego.
All proceeds from this event will go to programs and services that support children with ADHD. It is Sanders’ goal to bring the ADHD community together as one voice to urge the private sector and the government to listen to her concerns and take action in addressing the urgency for change and alternative treatments to prescription medication for those who suffer with ADHD.
