The Shocking Truth About the Safety of Our Vaccines

Vaccines save lives, there is no doubt about that. They have eradicated many diseases that plagued the world in past centuries. But vaccines can also be dangerous, especially to the most vulnerable among us, children. Robert F. Kennedy’s book Thimerosal: Let The Science Speak goes into great detail exposing the dangers of the preservative thimerosal in vaccines containing mercury. Thimerosal is known to be a highly toxic poison that can affect the human brain and nervous system.

Differences in How We Raise Our Children

The Differences in How We Raise our Children Now Compared to Way Back in the 1970s

As a grandparent now, I’m astonished at how much things have changed for children since I was growing up way back in the seventies. When it comes to looking at the foods, medication, health and safety of children these days it seems we’ve taken made some progress, but in may ways we’ve gone backwards. It’s not that I’m against technology and the latest innovations, but when you examine it closely I wonder if it helps us manage our lives as much as we think it does.

Ultrarunning: My ADD Medication by Chad Weller

In 1984, I was diagnosed with ADD and was put on Ritalin. I was in the second grade. The teachers kept saying I was unfocused in class, so I was tested for learning disabilities and ADD. Then I was placed in remedial classes (reading and math) and spent time with tutors. As for the medication, I did not like taking it. I didn’t understand what side-effects were, but I knew the medicine made me feel different.

Short Lived Marathon Des Sables

It had been months of preparations and training for the world famous Marathon Des Sables. Sometimes training required running and other times it was walking on the trails of Malibu, California. I even traveled to Mexico for heat training, where I went walking on an empty and private beach with no one around to disturb me for about 6 to 7 hours on the beach cove. When I trained at home, I ran and walked from Manhattan Beach to Palos Verdes and from Manhattan Beach to Santa Monica. I also traveled to Utah (not too far from the Grand Canyon) to hike the Rocky Mountains and sand dunes of similar terrain, as it would be in Morocco.

ADHD, as American as Apple Pie

There has been a concerning trend to medicate Americans for all ailments, including children for ADHD. I have taught high school social studies in an urban school district for fourteen years and write this reflection based on those years of experience and observation. Growing up I was diagnosed with a learning disability and struggled with concentration or cliche daydreaming largely associated with ADHD.

Living with Epilepsy

Like all parents, when I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I daydreamed of what her life would look like. What would she look like? What would she enjoy? Who would she become? I never in my wildest dreams imagined she would be diagnosed with epilepsy.
